Duties and Responsibilities:

Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 41 §35 the Treasurer “shall receive and take charge of all money belonging to the town, and pay over and account for the same according to the order of the town or of its authorized officers. No other person shall pay any bill of any department”. The Treasurer also establishes and manages relationships with financial institutions holding town funds and invests funds therein as allowed by law. The Treasurer arranges all borrowings and manages the retirement of the debt arising there from. The Treasurer takes custody of tax titles, tax possession and all other property of the town not specifically allocated, by law, to other agencies.
