Town Reports  1859 - 2000's Kingston's Town Reports have been microfilmed and are now available on our website!  The microfilm was scanned and run through OCR (optical character recognition software).  The resulting PDF files can be viewed in your internet browser or downloaded and saved in PDF form on your computer (requires Acrobat Reader®). Click    to download the free Acrobat Reader® program. The PDFs can be individually searched using the “find” command in your browser or Acrobat Reader®.  The basic search function finds partial matches; for example, a search for “tax” also finds the variants “taxes,” “taxed” and “taxi.”  At this time, it is not yet possible to search across reports unless you follow the instructions for advanced users.  Because the Annual Reports include many different typefaces which were "read" by the computer to create the searchable text in the PDFs, some words that appear in the page images may not be found by the search function.  For example, words printed in italics in the original reports do not yield clear, searchable text. Search broadly rather than specifically.  It may be necessary to browse the reports to locate information within each PDF.  When possible, use the table of contents at the front or the index at the back of the report.  Each page of the PDF contains two pages of the Annual Reports.  Search results refer to the page of the PDF and not the Annual Report page. NOTE:  In order to maintain maximum searchability, these files were not saved in "Fast Web View" format.  Please allow ample time for these large files to load. 2000's 2009  2019 WITH THANKS!
